More Than Surfing — A Way of Life
About us
Sharing our passion for the ocean and local culture since 2012.
We are a sustainable surf company driven by a deep love for the ocean, nature, and authentic local experiences. Our mission is simple: to help visitors to Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, and beyond the bay to learn how to surf on a safe and fun environment, discover the best waves, explore stunning beaches, and connect with the region through the eyes of locals.
Joaquín, our founder and lead instructor, was born in Puerto Vallarta in 1993. Introduced to surfing at a young age by his family, the ocean quickly became his lifelong passion. Over the years, he has surfed some of the world’s most iconic destinations, including Indonesia, France, Portugal, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, Hawaii, Australia, Morocco, and, of course, the Mexican Pacific—from Baja to Cabo, and from Nayarit to Michoacán and Oaxaca.
Although he spent time competing in both local contests and big wave events, he ultimately chose to follow his own path—traveling in search of quality waves and meaningful experiences surfing.
More than anything, Joaquín loves sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He has been teaching since 2012 and believes that every lesson is unique:
“Every time is different, every person is different—and I enjoy meeting new people, whether I’m teaching them to surf or guiding them to the best waves in the region.”
In pursuit of his passion for big waves, Joaquín travels throughout Mexico during spring, summer, and fall, chasing swells in renowned spots like Oaxaca and Pascuales. Closer to home, he carefully tracks every hurricane and storm near Puerto Vallarta—always ready to score powerful, hollow waves when the conditions align.
Why Sustainable?
We are proud to be part of the nonprofit organization Surfeando Sonrisas, where we help children with disabilities experience the joy of surfing. Every two months, we volunteer as instructors in surf clinics. This is one of the most meaningful parts of what we do—sharing the stoke with kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy activities like surfing or stand-up paddleboarding.
For the kids, the reward is clear: big smiles and a day full of joy and emotion. For us, it’s exactly the same.
We also believe in supporting our local community. That’s why we love recommending the best local spots to enjoy authentic food—from fresh ceviche and fish tacos to traditional regional dishes—places owned and run by local families that truly represent the spirit of the area.
